The Mebsy is a light general purpose battroid used in the L5 region. It’s an old design, dating back to the early days of space colonization. It was originally developed as a lighter and cheaper alternative to the Buru Buru. Today the Mebsy is still used as a utility mecha, and occasionally sees use as a combat unit by cavaliers who can’t afford any better or corporate pilots who have ticked off the human resources department.
At 32 tons the Mebsy is a true lightweight. Its design has been stripped down to the bare essentials needed for operation. It has no internal weapons, but comes equipped with a light magnetic rifle and two rocket pods. Ion thrusters mounted in the feet allow space flight but aren’t powerful enough to function in an Earthlike environment. The cockpit is spacious but spartan.
One of the Mebsy’s most unusual features is its articulation. The arms and legs don’t have rigid joints, but are connected to the body by flexible segments. This sort of design used to be very common but has since gone out of fashion.
Nearly all of the factions in the L5 region use this mecha. Being cheaper than a Buru Buru and nearly as strong, it is used as an industrial unit when a Dora would not be sufficient. In the asteroid colonies of the dusty ring the Mebsy finds use as a defense mecha. One common modification is to replace the magnetic rifle with a simple tube bazooka; this weapon is easy to manufacture and packs enough punch to make even this mecha seem threatening.
